Hillsborough County Permit Questions
Does Hillsborough County use a different permit office than the City of Tampa?
Yes. If your property is within Tampa city limits, permits go through the City of Tampa Construction Services Division. Properties in unincorporated Hillsborough County (Brandon, Lutz, Riverview) go through Hillsborough County Development Services. We know which office handles your address and file accordingly.
How long does permit review take in Hillsborough County?
Building review timing depends on permit type, completeness, and required department reviews. Related Hillsborough review cycles commonly use 15 business days for agency review and up to 10 working days for resubmittal review. We submit through HillsGovHub and track progress so you do not have to follow up.
What happens if my roof was built before 2002?
Hillsborough County requires a structural analysis by a Florida-licensed structural engineer for pre-2002 roof replacements. We coordinate the engineering analysis as part of the permit process.
